(NR 6062 8231) Standing Stone (NR)

This standing stone, situated by the roadside near Tarbert, measures 8ft high, width 2ft tapering to 1ft 9ins, and thickness 9ins. It is roughly rectangular, shaped at the apex to a sharp peak. It stands on a slight eminence, with a group of smaller stones round its base.

The standing stone, orientated N-S, is as described by Rideout. The 'slight eminence' has been accentuated by field clearance piled upon it.

Field Visit (May 1975)

NR 606 822. This impressive standing stone is situated at the s end of a stony ridge 290m WNW of the chapel and burial-ground, Cill Chaluim Chille [NR68SW 4] at Tarbert; aligned N and S, it measures 0.6m by 0.25m at the base and 2.5m in height.
