(Location cited as NR 641 507). Port an Duin Mill, Gigha. Early to mid 19th century. The partly roofless ruins of a 2-storey rubble building with a 1-storey and attic wing. There is an intact all-iron, 8-spoke, pitch-black wheel about 16ft (4.87m) diameter, with launder.
J R Hume 1977.
A disused corn mill, largely de-roofed.
Visited by OS (NKB) 2 February 1978.
The mill is situated 200m SW of Ardailly Farm and overlooks Port an Duinn on the W coast of Gigha. It consists of a T-shaped building with the waterwheel still in situ. This wheel is of cast iron and is of the overshot type. Some of the gearing is still in place. Water still runs in the lade which on its lead into the wheel is also made of cast iron.
