OS 6" map, Argyllshire, 2nd ed., (1900)
This standing stone is wedge-shaped with a slight taper to the E. face. It measures 5ft 8ins high, (S.face: 14ins wide, W face: 31ins, N face: 23ins, E face: 19ins.) There are various artificially-placed small stones nearby in a field.
F Celoria 1959.
A standing stone situated on a gentle rise in pastureland. It is 1.5m high, 0.9m broad and 0.5m thick. A number of small packing stones are visible at the base.
Surveyed at 1:10 000.
Visited by OS (T R G) 2 July 1978.
Field Visit (April 1977)
NR 336 642. This stone is situated in pasture on a shoulder of rising ground about 550m ESE of Knockdon farmhouse. 0f trapezoidal cross-section, it measures about 0.9m by 0.6m at the base and rises with a slight taper to a height of 1.7m. The jagged top and the presence of flake-scars on the otherwise smoothly dressed sides suggest, however, that the stone has been damaged and may once have been higher.
