(NR 3108 4294) (information contained in letter from W D Lamont 2 October 1957). The extensive turf-covered remains of much older buildings lie immediately E of the modern ruins above Loch Ard Achadh. These may conceivably be Norse. Certainly the site was apparently occupied in the Bronze or Early Iron Age as a Late Bronze Age Socketed axe, found near the loch, is now in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS Accession no: DE 97) (Lamont 1959). It was purchased in 1927.

All that can be seen at the above map reference are some grass-covered foundations of probably 18th-19th century origin.

(Meldreth type with embellished facets). Single find. Socketed axe, brown, rough, untrimmed, haft ribs inside. Length 70mm, mouth 20 x 25 mm, cutting edge 43mm, weight 95 gms. NMAS DE 97.
