(NR 3142 4780) Wigasgog (marked, but not named on map) lies 1/2 mile south west of Kintra, on the high (old) cultivation above Port Alsaig. The house site marked on the map here is of great historical interest as this is one of the group of marklands detailed in the oldest known Gaelic charter, granted by Donald, 2nd Lord of the Isles, in 1408.
Information contained in letter from W D Lamont, 2 October 1957
Wigasgog: - name unconfirmed. The rough large stone footings of a building measuring 14m east-west by 5.5m north-south, divided near its west end. It appears associated with rig and furrow fields to the north and east, and has no more apparent significance than many depopulated sites scattered over this area.
Visited by OS (JRL) 6 June 1978
One unroofed building is depicted on the OS 1st edition 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1882, sheet ccxxxi) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1981).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 4 December 1998.
