Archaeology Notes

NR34NW 1 3006 4789

(NR 3006 4789) Low on the north west slope of Cnoc Mor Grasdail is a small standing stone, roughly trimmed and 2 1/2ft high, surrounded by others in what was probably a rectangle originally. It is likely to be a burial site.

Information contained in letter from W D Lamont 2 October 1957; W Lamont 1959.

A spread of earthfast and loose stones having no form or enidence of antiquity. The alleged standing stone measures 0.7m high by 0.5m wide and is not prehistoric. Possibly a spread clearance mound.

Visited by OS (JRL) 6 June 1978.
