This building is situated 40m SE of the ‘W’ Lines Office (NY26SE 16.07) immediately E of a road and rail junction. It is rectangular on plan and measures 5.6m from WNW to ESE by 3.5m transversely over brick walls 0.3m in thickness and up to 0.15m in height. A narrow-gauge railway line enters the building from a shallow cutting on the ESE and terminates 1m from the WNW wall. What may be a porch is situated at the WNW end.
This building is shown on a plan taken on 1956 (Dumfries: Eastriggs Sub Depot. Site Plan of Depot 26.06.1956, 4283), where it is identified as a Fire Station. Its reuse as an engine shed occurred at a later date.
An aerial photograph (CAM/031 06210) flown on the 13 October 1942 shows that it had a flat roof, two windows on the SSW and a double door on the ESE.
