Activities

Field Visit (11 November 2022)

A large cairn of field-cleared stones and boulders is situated in open woodland some 150m to the ESE of Crubenbeg. The cairn takes the shape of a teardrop and measures up to 17.7m from E to W by 12m transversely overall, reaching a maximum height of 2.5m on the E where the ground drops steeply to the River Truim. A large boulder lies at the foot of the cairn on the NE, and while now covered in moss and lichen, this contains a lot of quartz. Another smaller clearance cairn lies a short distance to the SW.
