(NR 2528 6138) Standing Stone (NR)

OS 6" map, Argyllshire, 2nd ed., (1900)

A standing stone facing north north west. It is a flat slab, roughly triangular in cross section, measuring 8ft 10ins in height.The width of the flat side is 2 1/2ft and the circumference 5 1/2ft.

NR 2527 6137 As described; the unmarked stone stands in a ploughed field above south facing slopes.

Surveyed a 1:2500.

Visited by OS (J R L) 3 May 1978.

Activities

Field Visit (July 1975)

NR 252 613. This stone stands in an arable field a little to the w of Gartacharra farm, a position which offers extensive views in all directions; aligned E and W, it stands to a height of 2.7m and now leans slightly to the S. Measuring 0.74m in width and up to 0.4m in thickness, it rises with irregular sides to a shouldered top.
