Watching Brief (22 February 2021 - 19 March 2021)

Lindsey Stirling – AOC Archaeology Group

NH 8225 6920 A watching brief was carried out at Castlecraig Farm, near Nigg, in advance of a holiday pods development. The watching brief was carried out between 22 February and 19 March 2021 during which 22 archaeological features were identified. The features comprised 14 pits, five fire-pits, one posthole, and two linear features. While some of the pits and linear features may have had medieval or later origins, a group of pits and fire-pits on the SE slope have possible prehistoric origins.
