A type 27 pillbox, surrounded by barbed wire, is visible on a RAF oblique air photograph CAM/021 AF_00373 (flown 9 May 1942) on the edge of the southern boundary of the airfield. The pillbox is not visible on Aerofilms image SAW019890 (flown 1948).
