Centred at NO 8603 9005 is a turf-covered circular stone-walled hut measuring 9.5m in diameter between the centres of a denuded wall spread to about 2.5m all round. The entrance is not evident. The hut is sited within an area of stone clearance heaps probably from contemporary cultivation plots.
Hut surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS November 1972.
A small field-system containing two hut-circles extends over an area of about 6ha on the N and W flanks of White Hill.
1. NO 8603 9004. This hut-circle measures 8m in diameter within a stony bank 2.3m thick by 0.5m high with an entrance on the E.
2. NO8607 8991. This hut-circle, which lies 125m to the SSE, measures 5.8m in diameter within a stony bank 1.5m thick and 0.2m high.
No complete fields are recognisable, but the area around hut-circle 1, where there are about twenty cairns (up to 4m in diameter by 0.6m in height) is partly enclosed by short lengths of stony bank; similar banks, but no cairns extend to the S along the W flank of the hill. To the W there is an enclosed field of relatively recent date, whose E boundary bank overlies an earlier lynchet.
RCAHMS 1984, visited November 1984.
Measured Survey (8 November 1983)
A divorced field survey of the hut circles and field system was produced by RCAHMS at 1:2500. The survey drawing was redrawn in ink at the same scale.
