Activities

Field Visit (5 September 2019)

This heather- and grass-grown platform is terraced into a WSW-facing slope 16m SE of the concrete floor of a long building situated on the ridge above (NG89SW 4.15). It is roughly rectangular on plan and measures about 7.5m from NW to SE by 3.8m transversely. There is no visible evidence that a structure was ever erected upon it, but a heather- and grass-grown curving bank, 1.4m thick and 0.3m high, on the SW and SE suggests that it may have been a firing platform.

Visited by HES, Survey and Recording (ATW, AKK), 5 September 2019.
