Activities

Note (29 March 2019)

Date Fieldwork Started: 29/03/2019

Compiled by: NOSAS

Location Notes: In an area of deep heather moorland, this is one of the few boulders which stand out. It is about 5m W of a S-N fence, close to where it turns to the NE. Panel 10 of this group is about 25m to the SW. There are extensiove views to the S and E over Strath Sgitheach and to the Black Isle and beyond. To the N the ground rises gently, and Panel 8 of this group is visible about 200m away.

The panel is just inside the scheduled area SM10495 which includes hut circles and other rock art.

Panel Notes: The panel is roughly square boulder of gneiss, 1.3m x 1.3m, and 0.6m high. Much of the top surface is coarse quartz crystals, but the W and NW edge has a finer schist-like composition. In that area there is one clearly defined cup, and two rather doubtful ones.
