Note (8 July 2018)

Date Fieldwork Started: 08/07/2018

Compiled by: NOSAS

Location Notes: This panel is recorded on Canmore 12923 as panel C.

The panel is located on the lower S facing open slopes of Meall a'Ghuail, overlooking the river Sgitheach. It is one of a group of 8 panels (7 located at the time of writing) close to the Allt an Criche, in rough gazing interspersed with pine trees and patches of heath. A track crosses the river Sgitheach (ford and stepping stones) and heads NW and passes 60m W of the panel. Panel 2 (B in Canmore) is 5m to the E and is part of the same rock outcrop. There is a large broken down pine tree 7m E of the panel. Rigg is visible in the ground immediately S of the panel. The area generally has a number of hut circles, field systems and burnt mounds, including those identified in Canmore 12921 about 0.6km to the SW.

Panel Notes: The panel is a low domed roughly triangular outcrop of schist, about 2.1m by 1.5m rising to about 0.6m in height. The carved surface is on a slightly sloping (10 degrees W) flatter section in the NW part of the panel. There are 5 distinct and 3 indistinct cups in a group.
