Location Notes: This is one of a group of carvings recorded at this location (see also Cairnholy 4, 12, 13 and 14) which were recorded under Canmore 63726 and in the HER under MDG3326. These carvings are located across the surface on an exposed outcrop which lies adjacent to the field wall at the lower, W edge of a field of improved pasture. The carving are positioned primarily towards the eastern most edge of the outcrop, which has a steep drop off to the north, west and south. The other rock art panels in the group lie nearby: Cairnholy 4 is 0.7m to the E of the panel and Cairnholy 14 a further 0.9m in the same direction. In the wider landscape, Cairnholy 8 (ScRAP ID: 1090; Canmore ID: 77510) is located c. 100m to the NE, and Cairnholy 5 (ScRAP ID: 2159; Canmore ID: 63728) is located c. 180m to the NNE.
Panel Notes: This panel is one of a group of panels across a large protruding outcrop, and lies to the W side of the grouping. It slopes fairly steeply towards the W, measuring 2.6 x 1.1m across and 2.6m in height at its highest. At its N and W sides the panel descends almost vertically to the ground. There is a group of eight cupmarks in two parallel rows of four towards the upper end of the panel, two parallel ones of which are elongated in shape. There are also two further possible cupmarks further down the slope of the panel.
