Activities

Watching Brief

NT 17616 57583 A programme of archaeological work was undertaken, 18 April 2017 – 12 October 2018, in advance of the construction of a house and garden on agricultural land at Whitehill. No archaeology was identified within the proposed footprint of the building or the supporting access and infrastructure. However, earthworks were identified adjacent to the S bank of the burn, which are believed to be the remains of a post-medieval farmstead. These were surveyed and their positions plotted relative to the position of the development. The earthworks were temporarily fenced off, in advance of the excavation of a drain in the area adjacent to the burn, in order to avoid any accidental damage.
