Field Visit (30 March 2019)
Only the grass-grown remains of the N end of this building platform survives in rough pasture 11.5m N of the U1456 public road. It was rectangular on plan, but what is left measures 5.1m from N to S by 4.5m transversely. An undated sketch map of the battery in the Fort Record Book held at the National Archives at Kew (WO192/248) illustrates the building but does not identify its function. However, it is shown to have been a Nissen Hut on an aerial photograph (CPE/Scot/UK/0293 SFFO 0044) flown on 17 September 1947.
Visited by HES, Survey and Recording (ATW, AKK, KLG), 30 March 2019.
