Archaeological Evaluation (11 June 2019)
A 5% archaeological evaluation was carried out on 11 June 2019. The site is raised above the surrounding fields and Aberdeen-Inverness railway line immediately to the NE. At least 1m of compacted sand and gravel as well as layers of tar, concrete, metal and wood had been laid on the field presumably in preparation for a unit to be constructed at the Kintore Business park. There is a high soil bund on the SE and SW sides of the site. Topsoil had been stripped prior to this preparation and the foundations of the proposed building will be dug less than 1m deep.
