Watching Brief (10 September 2018 - 11 September 2018)
NS 79970 50640 A watching brief was undertaken, 10–11
September 2018, during work associated with the laying of a new
water pipe. The main excavation was 100m long by 0.5m wide
and c0.95m deep. A further five trenches, 1.1–2.1m x 1.1 x 1.4m, were excavated to the N of the pipeline. A large stone rotary
quern was uncovered during the excavation of the pipeline.
This was at the base of the excavation and was left in situ.
