Desk Based Assessment (18 March 2019 - 1 April 2019)

The asset consists of an Old Coal Pit located next to Thrushbush Farmstead, North and depicted and annotated on the Ordnance Survey map of 1859. The coal pit which is also located along the Thrushbush Incline, would have benefited to this close proximity for transporting quarried materials on to where they were most needed. The coal pit is no longer in use by the time of the Ordnance Survey map of 1897. The area is now occupied by a large modern housing development.
