Activities

Field Visit (9 September 2015)

A building is depicted as roofed and named as 'Pump' on the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map (Argyllshire and Buteshire, (surveyed 1871) published 1872, sheet CXXI.7). It is associated with the quarry NM71NW 114. The building does not appear on the on the 2nd edition of the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map (Argyllshire, 1898, sheet CXXI.7) and NM71NW114 is now referred to 'Old Quarry'.

Due to the disturbd nature of the ground in this area there were no obvious footings observed on the date of visit except for the remains of a stone-lined channel 11.5m in length and 3m in width. This was possibly related to the pump house which stood on or near this site and which had been removed by 1898.

Visited by HES (Survey and Recording), MMcDonald, 9 September 2015.
