Field Visit (9 September 2015)

This ruinous, slate built, single storey quarry building is the least well preserved on the west side of the island of Easdale. A large quantity of waste overlies it and there is a partly buried vertical boiler lying on its side. Based on map evidence, this building dates from between 1871 and 1898.

Visited by HES, Survey and Recording Section (MMD), 9 September 2015.

Desk Based Assessment (31 January 2019)

The is building known as the Boiler House, does not appear on the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map (Argyllshire and Buteshire, surveyed 1871 published 1872, sheet CXXI.7) but is depicted as roofed but unnamed on the 2nd edition of the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map (Argyllshire, revised 1898, published 1899, sheet CXXI.7). This gives a date of construction between 1871 and 1898.

Information from HES, Survey and Recording Section (MMD), 31 January 2019.
