Metal Detector Find (2017)

NT 48 22 An enamelled copper-alloy Iron Age strap fastener of so-called ‘mini-terret’ type was found during metal detecting. These acted as a form of buckle or strap fastener, and are a later Iron Age type which continued in use into the Roman period. The outer edge is enamelled with a reserved wave pattern within a red field. Similar enamelling is found around the swollen collars and on two angled fields running across the loop at mid-height. W 31, H 28mm.

Claimed as Treasure Trove (TT 56/17) and allocated to NMS (X.FA 144)
