Metal Detector Find (2016)

NO 36 59 An assemblage of medieval and later metal detector finds include a late 17th-century gold posy ring with the inscription ‘Ever Constant’. Another ring is an unusual example of a 15th-century iconographic ring, a specifically British type that usually has inscriptions or images of saints. While almost all other examples are in silver-gilt, this

example is in copper alloy.

Other finds demonstrate everyday life in the medieval and later periods, and include a variety of dress accessories, like buttons as well as imports from the Netherlands such as knife pommels.

Claimed as Treasure Trove (TT162.16) allocated to Signal Tower Museum Collections, Arbroath (A2017.51)
