'The landis of Maritoun...with the tower, fortalice, manor place....' were part of the property of James Graham, late Earl of Montrose - mentioned in a deed of 1645 - which dispossessed him of his estates.

Casual Observation (2015)

NO 68 56 Fragment of metal socketed axehead. The axe has been fractured in antiquity revealing the internal socket. Late Bronze Age.
