Note (1994)

This concrete structure may have served as a headtank or cistern for a Boiler House (NM71NW 141) using gravity flow. This cistern is associated with quarries on the west side of the island of Easdale.

Withall notes that the cistern is fed with rainwater with evidence of an overflow pipe (now gone) and a pipe centrally placed at the base of the tank. This pipe measures 0.11m in diameter. The walls of the cistern are 0.2m in thickness and 1.5m in height. The internal dimensions are 4.7m in length by 2.4m in width. This cistern possibly dates to the late 19th/ early 20th century.
