Aerial photography has revealed the cropmarks of an irregular alignment of large pits 140m WSW of Balcathie farmsteading. It is visible from c.NO 6068 3952 to c.NO 6060 3944, a distance of about 105m and runs in a NNE-SSW direction, curving towards the S. A second pit-alignment (NO63NW 9) has been recorded 60m to the E.
