Activities

Field Visit (2 March 2017)

This culvert under a minor public road once carried a stream into the Annaty Burn but it is now dry. Nothing of the stream can be seen on the north side of the road, where there is no stonework, but on the south side there is a vertical wall that stands at least 2.2m in height (including a low parapet). At the foot of this wall, which is constructed of quarried stone, is the narrow entry to the culvert which has a low flattish arched top. The foot of the wall to either side of the opening wall has been reinforced by the addition of a low concrete footing.

Visited by HES, Survey and Recording (JRS) 24 March 2017.
