Watching Brief (12 October 2022)

NO 50326 64868 The removal of a 28m section of forestry track across Beattie’s Cairn Scheduled Monument was monitored under archaeological supervision. The material forming the track was removed in spits to the original ground surface to prevent damage occurring to the Scheduled Monument. The track’s footprint over the cairn was hand cleaned to ensure that no archaeological features had been disturbed and to ensure the return of vegetation to protect the monument.

No new archaeological features or material culture were encountered during the removal of the forestry track.
