Field Visit (20 March 2015)
This pumping station, which supplied water to the Ravenscraig steelworks (1954-1992) from the River Clyde, has been demolished and what little remains to be seen lie on the north-east bank. A weir across the river here effectively created a reservoir from which a guaranteed amount of water could be drawn. An earlier pumping station is depicted at this location on the OS six-inch map (Lanarkshire 1913, Sheet XVIII.NW).
Visited by RCAHMS (AM, GB) 20 March 2015.
