Breakwater and jetty? The structures appear too organised to be natural features and are located at a branch in the main sea channel, perhaps at a point where navigation was always possible. They comprise a line c. 5m long of larger boulders up to 1.5m across running down the shore from the coast edge to just below the HWM which could be a breakwater. To the north is a low platform c. 5x3m which has a low stone revetment on the sea side. Such features can be associated with seaweed gathering and were used for offloading and temporary storage.
