Activities

Field Visit (June 2010 - July 2010)

ND 2572 4619: The HER notes a large rectangular stone lies next to the Camster forestry access track gate and picnic area. Field survey found it situated on top of the track surface adjacent to the gate and small picnic area. The Stone measured 1.5m in length, 1m in width and 0.2m in height, resting in a supine position. HER information suggests it may have been used as a gate post or possible standing stone but it has clearly been moved from its original location and as such any potential past function is unclear.

Information from Stuart Mitchell (CFA Archaeology Ltd) July 2010. OASIS ID: cfaarcha1-79560 (No.58).
