Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.

Note (5 October 2015)

The First World War Audit project noted a possible hospital at Kirkton (of Durris), recorded from a list of Auxiliary Red Cross Hospital published on a web site (http://www.scarletfinders.co.uk accessed July 2013), this was thought to be the public hall in Kirkton of Durris.

A researcher, in an email to Gordon Barclay, confitrms that the public hall was indeed the hospital and photographs that show the building in use as a hospital can be seen within the hall.

Information from Historic Environment Scotland (AKK) 5 October 2015.
