Field Visit (20 May 2002 - 22 May 2002)

Site 2 (centred on NGR NT 0477 5377

Worked chert and quartz was recovered over an area of approximately 2000 m², around the head of a spring at NGR NT 0477 5377 (marked as a ‘cistern’ on Ordnance Survey maps). Following its initial discovery, the area was walked more thoroughly to define the extent of the scatter. No artefacts were recovered for at least 10 m beyond the line marked ‘limit of lithic scatter’ in Figure 2. Two main concentrations were identified, centred on NT 0478 5376 and NT 0477 5378, although only a sample of the material present was recovered.
