Archaeology Notes

NO53NW 28 centred 5392 3504

A ring-ditch, rig and pits have been recorded as cropmarks on oblique aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 1976, 1977, 1983, 1988, 1990, 1993, 2000) on level ground to the E of Ravensby House (NO53SW 77). An apparently continuous ring-ditch, possibly a barrow, encloses an area of about 8m in diameter. Rig can be seen to the E and W, and a scattering of pits is visible throughout the field, with an apparent concentration around the ring-ditch. Some larger pits can be seen to the W of the ring-ditch.
