Stone cairn on ground above lay-by on the West side of the A861. Cairn is about 2200 MM high, base about 2400 MM diameter and the flat top about 1600 MM diameter. The cairn is round with a flat front facing the road that has a slate(?) plaque.

IN PROUD MEMORY

OF THE MEN AND WOMEN OF

MOIDART

WHO GAVE UP THEIR LIVES

IN THE

TWO WORLD WARS

1914-18 AND 1939-45

FOR YOUR TOMORROW

WE GAVE OUR TODAY

August 2014

There is a bench with inscription which reads

'Pause awhile and reflect'

The site does not seem to have been completed, still building materials near the cairn and it looks as if there might be going to be steps up from the lay-by

The cairn is built alongside a coffin cairn at NM 66947 75078. The cairn is about 800 MM high, about 2500 MM base diameter and approximately 300MM across the top. There is a small concrete(?) cross on top, this is about 300 MM high. Not marked on 1st or 2nd Eition OS map though shown on modern map on Pastmap.

Information from M Briscoe 9 September 2014.
