"The castle of Stravithy is described by Sir Robert Sibbald as "entire about a hundred and twenty seven years ago (c.1710);" it was a regular fortalice, situated in a bog, with ditch and drawbridge...and was surrounded by ornamental walks and trees.

Similar information. The castle has now been completely removed and the fosse drained. The site is marked by a few ornamental trees.

The lands of Stravithie, with manor and tower, are mentioned in a charter of Charles I, dated at Edinburgh, 12th December 1642.
