"A castle or fortalice, supposedly built by the Danes," called the Castle of Draffan, overhung the south bank of the Kenly in the eastern part of the parish of Dunino.

It is suggested that this site is incorrectly located, and refers to the original fortification at Craignethan Castle (NS84NW 3.00).
