Scottish Borders Smr Note

Grubbet Mill,a corn mill which dates back to at least the 16th century stood at this location. It is on record in the mid 16th century as being "brent, rased and caste downe" by soldiers under the command of the Earl of Hertford. The mill was rebuilt and is shown as two buildings with a miller's house to the north in the 1860s. By the time of the 3rd edition OS map (c. 1920), however, the mill has gone.
