A setting of six pits is visible amongst the cropmark features in the field immediately to the NW of Black Wood, Balcaskie. The pits are arranged in three opposed pairs and form a setting measuring about 9m in length by 3m transversely from ENE to WSW. The setting is plotted as a pitted avenue on a distribution map of Neolithic monuments covering southern Scotland (RCAHMS 1997).
