Activities

Field Visit (24 April 2010 - 1 May 2010)

At least two quarries or test-pits and a number of spoil tips are situated in rough peaty pasture about 80m E of the larger of the two unnamed lochans N of the Loch of Brecksie. The more easterly quarry (HP 59568 03827) measures about 8.5m from WNW to ESE and 1m transversely, while that to the W (HP 59517 03853) measures about 12m from WNW to ESE and 1m transversely. Their narrow form suggests they may be chromate quarries which are found widely throughout the area.

Visited by RCAHMS (DCC) 24 April -1 May 2010.
