Summary Record (7 March 2014)

An assemblage of metal detected objects recovered from the area around Dunstaffnage Castle. The material consists mainly of common types of medieval and later objects comprising a ‘halo’ around the site, presumably reflecting various activities and chance losses around the castle itself. As well as these everyday finds the assemblage includes a number of high status objects including a 12-13th century enamelled plaque and a harness pendant identical to those discovered during the excavation of the castle. Personal objects include a medieval silver pendant in the shape of a cross. There is also an unusual 17th combination lock.

Claimed as Treasure Trove case 150/09 and allocated to KIlmartin Museum.

Information from TTU (SC) 07 March 2014.
