Watching Brief (6 August 2012 - 10 August 2012)

AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by Geddes Consulting, on behalf of their client LxB Retail, to undertake a programme of archaeological works at Corton, South East Ayr (Planning Ref 07/001795/OUT). The development area consists of approximately 17.4 ha of agricultural land. Fifty-three trenches totalling 9492 m2 metres were excavated. Generally, the area was sterile with no archaeological features surviving. However, two features were identified and fully excavated. No other significant archaeology was found at the proposed development area. A programme of post-excavation analyses is required.
