Publication Account (2013)

This 3-storey, red sandstone flax mill of 1834 is narrower than usual. Its fireproof floors formed from tiles rather than brick. Two other mills formed a courtyard, demolished for new housing as part of the conversion of this one in 1986. Made one million sandbags per week in WWI.

M Watson, 2013.
