ORIGINAL CROSS OF WOOD, TWENTY FEET HIGH. WAS ERECTED HERE AND BLESSED BY

BISHOP OF ARGYLL AND THE ISLES

IN COMMEMORATION OF 'A VERY SUCCESSFUL MISSION' BY

REDEMPTRIST FATHERS, ON SUNDAY TWENTY FIRST JULY 1898.

THE CHURCH DEDISCATED TO OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR AND SAINT CUMIN,

UNDERTAKEN BY LADY LOVAT UPON THE DEATH OF HER HUSBAND WHOSE WISH IT

WAS TO PROVIDE A PROPER CHURCH FOR COMMUNITY, HAD BEEN COMPLETED

AND DEDICATED EARLIER ON THURSDAY SECOND MAY 1889.

CROSS HAS BEEN RENEWED SEVERAL TIMES WITH PRESENT ONE OF IRON BEING ERECTED

IN 1965 THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF PARISHIONERS UNDER CANON JAMES GALBRAITH.'
