Activities

Field Visit (August 2011)

This small dam has been built across the Abhainn Monadh Mhiltich, effectively preventing it following its natural course east towards Kilmory Glen. Instead, the waters flow south along an artificial cut to Malcolm’s Bridge to join a natural watercourse that drains into the dammed Loch Long. From here the water flows to Kinloch Glen. This particular section was constructed between the surveys undertaken for the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch maps, respectively carried out in 1877 and 1898 (Argyllshire (Islands of Rum, Sanday etc) 1879, Sheet LX; Inverness-shire (Isle of Skye) 1903, Sheet LX).

Visited by RCAHMS (GFG) August 2011.
