World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (24 October 2013)

The 4th epoch 1:2500 OS map (surveyed 1933) shows a drill hall and riding school between Yorkhill Parade and Carfrae Street. This area was not developed at the time of the 3rd epoch map (surveyed 1909) which shows the Yorkhill Street drill hall.

It seems likely that the Yorkhill Parade buildings were, in 1914, for a cavalry unit, probably that identified by Osborne (2006) as having premises in this area: the HQ and "A", "B" and "D" Squadrons of the Glasgow Yeomanry.

Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 24 October 2013.
