Field Visit (13 June 2010)
Pinhoulland farmstead is still inhabited and it was not recorded in detail on the date of visit. It comprises a probably mid-19th century single storey cottage with a contemporary outbuilding attached to its NE end, and a range of sheds and other buildings in the vicinity. The cottage faces SE and has fireplaces in both it principal rooms. Of particular note at Pinhoulland is the drystone wall that surrounds the ‘in-field’ area, which is complete, save for breaks for gates, and in good condition. Two probably prehistoric enclosures (HU24NE 19 and 176) lie immediately NE of the steading, otherwise all of the other features visible within the boundary wall appear to relate to more recent agricultural practices.
