The Bowmore Hall, Jamieson Street, is the likeliest candidate for the local drill hall, which in 1914 was the drill station for "H" Squadron, 2nd Scottish Horse and the base for "G" Company, 8th battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. The hall is single-storyed with four bays to Jamieson Street; the windows are round-headed. The gable to Main Street has two round-headed windows and what may be a later inserted square-topped window between. The entrance is from Main Street, in a narrow opening between the hall and the Town Hall.
The hall has been extended to the south, and the army cadets still use the complex.
